Smooth
Text: MacOS 9 Users: Prior to MacOS X, you can turn font smoothing in the Appearence control panel. Just go to Apple Menu > Control Panels > Appearence to get into the control panel, then click on the Fonts tab and click on where it says "Smooth all fonts on screen". This will take care of it. MacOS X Users: The fonts are already smooth, you don't need to do anything. However, using the wrong settings could make some fonts unsmoothed. Just incase, in order to make ALL fonts smooth, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences... to get into the main system preferences. Then click on the General button and find at the bottom where it says "Turn off text smoothing for font sizes [X] and smaller". If it says anything other than "8", change it to 8 instead. This'll make all fonts smooth now. Windows 95/98 Users: You CAN get font smoothing to work in MS Paint! Here's how. Go to My Computer > Control Panels > Display, and click on the Plus! tab. Then select the "Smooth edges of screen fonts" button (in red, below). That should give your MS Paint text a bit of font smoothing. .... If you DON'T have the Plus! tab, then you're out of luck. (Of course this may vary between the different versions of Windows. This is for Windows95, and may differ from Windows98 or WindowsME.) Windows XP Users: Same here, XP users can get font smoothing working in MS Paint as well. What you need to do is right-click on the desktop and select Properties. Then go to the Appearance tab and click on the Effects button. Find where it says "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts", make sure it's checked, and that the pull-down tab is selected on "Cleartype". That should smooth up the fonts on your computer. Photoshop Users: Their text is automatically smooth. But just don't "de-check" the "Anti-Alias" button, OK? GraphicConverter Users: Text is usually automatically anti-aliased also. Like Photoshop, leave the "Anti-Alias" box checked. |
